Apparently, I’m Big With Mobile, Porn, and Bitches?
I don’t masquerade as some kind of heavily trafficked web site. In fact, eclipsing 500 visitors in a day only happens if the site ends up listed in a gallery or something comparable. But just the same I find it unusually entertaining to scour my Mint statistics (which is an awesome tool, by the way) for diamonds in the rough. Once in a while I get some interesting referrals.
Well, today I took a peek into the stats and, well, I hit the jackpot… or maybe the stat-pot?. I was greeted by a few interesting tidbits I thought I’d share in light of having not made a real post in about a month.
We all know about the popularity of the iPhone, but I was surprised to see a few things happened over the past few months since I last looked into the coffers. First, IE has been surpassed by Safari in my user base and is now only the third most popular browser behind FF and Safari. Good news there.
But more importantly, one other browser has crept up out of the <1% category and it is (drumroll) the iPhone (aka. MobileSafari)! This is a pretty impressive number considering it’s a mobile device. Cool stuff.
I don’t have the faintest idea how or why, but apparently I got a referral from porn-digest.com? I don’t visit porn sites — okay, not this particular porn site — but I can’t imagine how someone surfing for donkey bestiality might possibly find anything of interest in my articles on modular CSS architecture?
Maybe they have a geek porn section, but I didn’t see it. Is this the new way to spam?
I have long displayed a palpable hated for that “congratulations, you won a free apple ipod” wench… enough to audibly yell at the screen at times. But apparently my hatred is so widely shared that people are actually searching for this c-bomb and ending up at an old blog post of mine. Enough are doing so that it falls in line as #4 in my popular searches behind my name and my two most popular articles.
If you find her (or Carmen Sandiego while we’re on the subject of bitches), please kick her in the throat and tell her it’s from me.
